Day 155- Last long run- 8.5 miles

Today’s plan; run the overlook trail, 8.5 miles, for the last time before the marathon

Time of day: 7:30 a.m.
Temp.: 40º
Humidity: 30%
Weather: cold and clear
Course: Ridgeland Recreational Trail; rolling hills with some flats

Today was the last long run of the training as my taper is now in full swing.  I was very careful with where I placed each step, because I did not want to sprain or strain anything on this long run.

I also took it easy on the speed.  Not fast at all.  Just long enough to give the legs a workout.

Here are the stats for the 8.58 miles; time on course, 1:23:33 with an avg. pace of 9:45/mile.  The fastest mile was 9:20.  My heart rate avg. was 146 bpm with a max of 167 during the last few meters.  I burned 1083 calories.

The remainder of the week is rest and a couple of short runs just to keep tone.  The MS Blues Marathon is now five days away.

Gotta run,
Chuck
