Group runs will be held on Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings (B Group includes speed work - A Group does not).

We will be utilizing the multi-purpose trail for a lot of our runs. It offers lots of benefits for our training. It is centrally located to the tri-county area. It is easily accessed from Fleet Feet where our runs will start, and it is hilly enough to adequately help train for the challenging Blues course.

We will mix this up with the Parkway and the surrounding neighborhoods too, so the participants will get some variety.

As the training progresses we will also head downtown and run sections of the Blues course so participants will know how race day will feel.

There are two programs for each race, an A group and a B group.

A Group - This is for those who are running their first marathon or half marathon, or those who have take a good bit of time off and are getting back into it.

B Group - This group is for those who are seasoned athletes and want to improve their PRs, to break a certain time, or to achieve a qualifying time for a race.

The mileage will be the same for both the A and B groups. The difference in the program will be the speed work for the B group. Both groups will do speed work, but the B group will focus harder on it.

Weekly mileage will vary for each program, but all will start with about 12 miles a week. As a base you need to be able to run at least 4-5 miles. As the program progresses the weekly mileage will cap out at 39 miles a week for the marathoners and 27 for the half folks. Of course, we will build up to this mileage slowly and safely, so that won’t be nearly as intimidating to the newcomers. Our plan at this time is to have both the A and B groups for the marathon complete 2 – 20 mile runs.

After a month of the program we will break into pace groups with our coaches leading these groups. Last year we had groups as fast as 8:30/mile to close to 13:30-14 min/mile as well as some run/walk participants, too.
